I have asked about this before, all I get is negativity. I know it is not the easiest thing to do or a walk in the park, but I am going to spend the next 18 months looking for ways to go about emigrating to the US.
I know all about the fact I need a work sponsor, the fact my law degree is useless there! The fact I am not a skilled worker or a professional. But I still want to give it a go, people go over to the US all the time from the UK and I will be contributing to the US economy over the UK economy so it’s not like I want to come over and not work!
I will be a graduate in UK law but this is only me fulfilling a personal ambition, I am not expecting to get a job relating to this at all, but it is one of my educational credentials. I also have another bachelors degree.
I also have 5 years office experience in
PA work
Office
Charity
Fundraising
And I have 5 years experience in social care looking after old people.
Basically I would be willing to do any kind of job! I am not wanting a particular field. I would be willing to train in anything too such as health care whilst working in a menial job.
I do expect that if my plans to do exceptionally well in my current degree come off I will be an attractive candidate to employers for my strong academic ability.
I was thinking of beginning work in a law firm here in the UK on graduation and then being transferred to the US office, as anything from tea lady to paralegal. I also considered offering my services to a US firm on a voluntary basis for a month in return for a sponsorship afterwards for a work VISA, I don’t mind a temporary work VISA for a few years and then moving to Canada, or even becoming involved with a US citizen during my stay and eventually marrying him. I’m single so this could well happen.
So I know all the negative aspects of this already so please can anyone offer any personal stories of successful immigration in similar or even loosely similar circumstances? Or any ideas on other ways to get into the US even on a temporary VISA? I have another 18 months or so to work on this so any input here is helpful so thanks.
