I am looking into getting a credit card, and I want to know what is your credit score when you get you first card.

How do they work? How much money do you need to use them ( bills )? I will be using it mostly on pay later options, and I DO plan on paying it off.

Should I pay off my credit card balance in order to obtain a higher credit score?

I have a Chase Freedom credit card. I don’t know if I should pay off my whole balance or just pay little by little. If I pay it off immediately will my credit score go up dramatically? Or does it not even matter? Thanks in advance!

Is it better to close paid off credit card accounts or keep them open, if you want to improve your score?

I have about 8 credit card accounts, only two have moderate balances, a few more with low balances and three at zero balance. Would it improve or hurt my credit score to close the three with zero balances?
I do have three paid in full they are zero balances- so I should keep them open- even at zero?

say you are in good staying, never was late. always payed the balance. but you have too many credit cards let’s say. so when you cancel that credit card. what happens to your credit score? Does your credit limit you had for that card get erased from the records? after all those years of building the credit limit to help the credit score. what happens to it? and what happens to your score? i’m just curious.

Lets say the minimum payment of your credit card is $20 and your outstanding balance is $500. I know that it is recommended to pay above the minimum payment. But if I want to build the most credit for a better credit score should I be paying the debt lets say $100 dollars a month or is it better to pay all $500 in one payment?

Whenever I call a credit card company to raise my credit limit, they always inform me they will need to check my credit report. If they deny the limit increase, will it lower my credit score? Will even just calling to ask for an increase lower my credit score?

My boyfriend is freaking about because his credit card payment was 3 days late (and the one time it was late before, his credit went down 100 points! We just recently checked his report). Will this late payment effect his score, or does it usually have to be a certain number of days late before they report it to the credit beuraus?
