How is life in England and in the other nations of UK?

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Hi

I´m from Ecuador but I´m half German so I have a German passport

I´m about to get a professional degree in Enterprises Management in Ecuador

I can´t speak German but I can speak English so I´m planning to go to England or any other nation of UK
Would be easy for me to get a job without experience but I have good grades where I´m studying?

Also I want to know how´s life there:
- Are things expensive?
- How much approximately an apartment cost for rent?
- Does UK have a good Health System like in Germany in which your salary gets reduced a bit but you have almost everything for free?
- Does the goverment of UK like in Germany help people until they get a job?

What else can you tell me about England or the other nations of UK, especially about it´s economy and getting a job

I´ve heard that the weather it´s a bit rainy but I don´t care since I like rain and prefer cold than heat

Thanks a lot in advance for the info

What have England done for Scotland in economic terms?

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

What have England done for Scotland in economic terms?
What have England done for Scotland in economic terms?
Scotland have been subsidizing England since the 1970′s in the form of Scottish oil tax revenue, £9.6 billion in 2005 for example. Unfortunately the greater contribution of Scotland is misrepresented due to a piece of accounting trickery: the area from which the oil is extracted is referred to as ‘Extra Regio Territories’ not Scotland, and therefore does not appear on the England Scotland balance sheet, even though it is inside Scottish national waters, patrolled by Grampian police and supported by Scotland north east council infrastructure..

If these facts and others where rendered correctly at the time of the last referendum, Scotland would have become the Switzerland of the British Isles, with the hardest currency in Europe bar Norway.

Of course in may not be correct for Scotland to break from the union just as the going gets good, the question is what had England done before they became hangers-on in the 1970s to deserve the propping up the now receive?

Im sure the uk economy has benifited greatly from putting such huge taxes on whiskey also.

i am only asking this question because i have seen English people stating how they keep scotland afloat with their taxes when they truly do talk some amount of pish

How can England Protect its sovreignty & it’s economy??

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Its an odd balance. The UK needs the help of a superpower like USA or a collection of powerful nations like the EU to keep its economy strong. But both of these options include compromising it’s own freedoms to suit their supporters. What should the UK do? lose it’s wealth? or sovereignty?

What is the role and importance of The Bank of England on the UK economy?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Hi,
I have to do a presentation on this for my degree, its nothing too major but im just wondering if anyone can help point me in the direction of any websites (other than the main bank of england website) that can give me any relevant info.
Also if anyone could explain to me in simple terms what the uk economy is and how it is linked to the bank of england.
This would be greatly appreciated and really helpful to me trying to piece my presentation together
Thanks !
