Sentencing Date Set for Ex-Twin Cities Auto Dealer

I applied for an auto loan and was approved, but once I sent in my purchase agreement my loan rep said that they would only finance auto loans for franchise dealers – no independent used car dealers. I know the car and the dealership are fine. I have the carfax report on the car and I’ve had a mechanic take a look at it. Frustrated!

I went about 2 weeks ago to try to finance a car. I have bad credit high income to debt ratio and on debt managment. It should take them that long to see if I can get financed right? I keep calling and leaving messages and they are not returning my calls. What is up with that? I have the car and I’am driving it, I haven’t put it on my insurance because I’m not sure if the financing went through or not so what should I do?

I want to buy a car (2002ish) from a used car lot of Craigslist for about 7k.
The problem is only the big dealerships offer the easy financing, and Craigslist and the smaller lots yield mostly to cash customers.

How could I finance a car from one of these? What’s a “lending institution” or something? It seems impossible!!
