I have existing ‘contracts’ with BT and Sky which are deals that were taken out with a minimum period. A few months in I am facing redundancy (thanks to the poor economy at the moment). If I lose my job I will have to cut unnecessary expenses (hence Sky TV and the landline will need to get the chop). If I cancel for these reasons, what is the likelihood that I’d be sued or sent to a debt recovery agency for collection??
Just to clarify: There is no physical contract that has been signed, nor has there been any account created/money lent. It is simply an ‘agreement’ to accept services for a set period. Thanks

My credit rating is good, not bad. But I’ve heard that having too many cards can damage it. I know that calling is a bad way to cancell, plus they try to talk you out of it.
What is the BEST way to cancel, so the credit reporting agencies know that you canned the card, and not the reverse?

say you are in good staying, never was late. always payed the balance. but you have too many credit cards let’s say. so when you cancel that credit card. what happens to your credit score? Does your credit limit you had for that card get erased from the records? after all those years of building the credit limit to help the credit score. what happens to it? and what happens to your score? i’m just curious.

I have 3 credit cards that I just never use. I have kept them for emergency purposes. If I need a credit card for something, I just use my debit card. (Is this really a bad thing?)
Anyhow, one of the creditors just informed me that they will charge a fee even if you have a zero balance, and also an extra fee for foreign purchases. Of course, I want to cancel. Is this bad? Also, I already cancelled 2 dept store cards, Lerner & Spiegel, last year.

I want to make a Credit/Debit Card collection and I wonder if there is any problems if I just cancel a Credit Card right after I sign up?
Because all I want is just a card =].
And what happen if I can’t cancel but I never use that credit card? Do I have to pay anything monthly/annually?

So a couple months ago my mom canceled her credit card and it had a Live subscription on it. Well today came and it was the auto renewal day. My live still works and the next bill date is at 8/2011. Am I now getting free Live or will Microsoft notice that the card has been canceled?

I have a credit card thru my bank (Wachovia) and I have paid it off on time and in full every month for the past 2 years and I also just got a new Discover card, and after comparing the rates, my Wachovia card has an APR of 18.24% and the Discover card’s rate is 9.99%. I’ve been told that I should keep the Wachovia card for credit check purposes since I’ve kept up with it so well for this long, but just to avoid potential trouble in the future, I’m thinking about cancelling it, especially since I rarely use it now anyway (maybe just a couple times a month just so I’ll have something to pay off– that looks good, right?) What should I do?

My mother paid off her credit cards and then cut them up and threw them away. But she still gets blank checks from the bank and realizes now that the accounts are still open. She can’t just call in and cancel them without having the card number which she doesn’t have anymore.
