How do I go about eliminating my credit card debt?

Friday, January 28th, 2011

I am 23 with a nine-month-old son, and I owe (on top of my student loans from college) approximately $30,000 in credit card debt. I am looking to do a debt management/consolidation program, but was wondering if I should just contact those credit card companies that say to call them if I have “financial difficulties” instead? Also, which debt consolidation programs would you refer, if any? Thank you!

Does the Mexican government have a right to complain about US border intrusions?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6390291.stm

As far as I’m concerned, Mexico should shut up and allow “economy-producing workers” over WITHOUT question and WiTHOUT demands that they speak Spanish.

These damned hypocrites don’t have any right to complain when someone illegally passes into their country as long as they’re launching an invasion on ours.

why are people in the UK all about bashing america?

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

have people in the uk lost their minds or do they hate america to much to speak the truth. theres an article in bbcnews.com about america selling defensive arms to taiwan which angered china. every comment from a uk reader revolved around its all americas fault. america is causing war. some comments call on the chinese to recall their treasury bonds to ruin americas economy. do they understand economics. that debt id debt we owe ourselves. and china owns 6%. if they recall it. their reserves become worthless. i doubt they want to be poor again. this is the situation, taiwan has been its own democratic country since 1949. china has threatened to invade them, they once tried in 1975. china has 1500 ballistic missiles pointed at taiwan. look at chinas track record in tibet, xingjia and human rights.so we should just let china invade a sovereign country that wants nothing to do with china. when did britain start cheering for the bad guys? or do they always cheer any country opposes america. even when its a dictatorship. thanks alot allies. what happened to the UK? are they cheering for the bad guys because they have little say in world affairs or is their hate of america making them blind?
the us is obliged by law under the taiwan act to sell taiwan defensive weapons.

Why are British people more knowledgeable about Australia than they are about Canada?

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Obviously both aCommonwealth countries with long histories of political and military ties with the UK, both are allies of the UK, both are English-speaking developed countries.

However:
- the UK is physically much closer to Canada than it is to Australia.
- Australia is significantly smaller than Canada, by land mass,
- Australia has a smaller population.
- Canada has a larger economy than Australia.
- Canada has higher per capita GDP than Australia.
- Canada is a G7 and G8 member, while Australia is not.

Given all this, why would British people know more about Australia than Canada? Sometimes it seems even that they know more about New Zealand than about Canada.

Many people in the UK seem to think (wrongly) that only Australia has aboriginal peoples, and that native tribes do not exist in significant numbers Canada (or the United States or elsewhere) and that they are not a major political influence/issue in these countries. Why is this? Why so much knowledge of Australia and so little about the larger Commonwealth nation of Canada?

I’ll also point out that many educated British people are unable to name even 3 Canadian cities (many can name only 1: Vancouver) while at the same time know many Australian cities.

Is there a reason for this?

Who wouldn’t want to work in the United Kingdom? The United Kingdom has the sixth largest economy in the world, and offers tremendous career opportunity for professionals from a variety of industries. If you are considering working in the United Kingdom, you don’t need to make the effort to find a job before you apply for a Tier 1 UK Visa. Instead, you can apply for your visa now by completing an application at the UK Border Agency’s website and have it on hand while you look for a great job opportunity. Then, once you find that perfect job in the United Kingdom, you can pull the trigger immediately and take advantage of the career opportunity presented to you.

With your Tier 1 UK Visa, you can search for the right job opportunity, and then you can work for up to two years. If your career opportunities continue or grow, you can apply for a three year extension as well, again through the UK Border Agency’s website. These visas are granted based on a points system that takes into account factors such as your age, your knowledge of the English language, your cash reserves, experience in the United Kingdom, business qualifications, and earnings from previous jobs. These factors will provide a sound basis to ensure that you have the wherewithal to support yourself financially once you arrive in the country.

Applying for a Tier 1 UK Visa is a somewhat lengthy process due to the various factors that are reviewed by the UK Border Agency when you submit your application. However, there is tremendous opportunity for you to further your career in the United Kingdom, so all of your efforts at applying for the visa will certainly be rewarded. These visas are not granted to everyone who applies, but if you are one of the select individuals whose application for the visa is approved, you will want to take full advantage of the incredible opportunity that is presented to you!
